Crime Stoppers Target Cemetary Vandals

Information sought on perpetrators of headstone damage in the Grice Cemetary.

11/13/2008 - Grice Cemetery Damage

On 10/27/08 Upshur County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the Grice Cemetery located on Giraffe Road just South of F.M. 852. Upon arrival contact was made with complainant and was advised that during the previous night, unknown suspect(s) had entered the cemetery and knocked over several grave markers. Information obtained that several people had visited the cemetery on 10/26/08 (Sunday) and no reports of any damage were made.

Damage occurred from the middle towards the North end of the property. Several markers of older gravesites were pried off their bases as tool marks were noticed both on the markers and bases. Residences in the area were contacted and no known description of the suspect(s) and or the suspect(s) vehicle could be made.
